Back in Canada
I’m back in Canada, and have a bunch of photos to go through. I’ll post them when I sort them out.
Meanwhile, I found this in my bag when I opened it:

Also, the TSA guy was great. He was supposed to fingerprint me and take a digital photo, but once he found out we were from Prince Rupert, he just ripped up the entry documents and chatted about Northern BC. Then he even stamped our passports (”We don’t really do this anymore, but if you really want it…”).

You had a good experience with the TSA! I regularly travel to the states for conferences etc. and you wouldn’t believe how often I spend 10 minutes explaining to them just what it is I’m doing. Bleh.

What I absolutely loved was the experience in Frankfurt, Germany, while boarding the flight for the USA.
Passengers go through the usual security screening when entering the security area of the airport. Then passengers who are boarding USA-bound flights have to endure another more detailed screening, and it involves a really long lineup. This is because the TSA insists on additional screenings for USA-bound passengers. Apparently the screening that is used for all other passengers isn’t good enough.
Anyway, what is really sweet about this big lineup and the frustration it causes is being able to say to people in the lineup — “this is what you get for voting for Bush.” Zing!
